Oh!
Oh! is a speaker for the deaf and their family. Name Oh! means the moment the deaf recognize music and inspired from
shape of speaker.
Speaker is one of the HOME appliance. When non disabled person of family member is listening a music, the deaf can not recognize the situation and can not share same feeling. I want to design a home appliance that aim to share same feeling and even can talk each other.
Due to this goal, I decided designing a speaker that can be express sound visually. At the same time, I want to deliver
"Music is daily life to non disabled person, but it is unknown territory to the deaf"
To solve my purpose, I select UNIVERSE as a design language to deliver the UNKNOWN TERRITORY.
And to make a speaker which can be express sound visually, I use the holes of speaker.
Front of Oh!, there are a lot of hole. When music is playing, lighting from the holes moves following the song’s rhythm.
With this feature, the deaf can feel the music visually and furthermore they can talk about music with others.
Moreover, I designed Oh! to show how many songs are played. There are 8 lines and each line has their own lighting which express sound track. Lighting rotates counterclockwise showing until which part you listened the song and which part isn't played yet.
